[COSRX] Centella Blemish Cream Review

centella blemish cream

“Centella Blemish Cream heals blemishes and acne scars quickly. An advanced formula that’s clinically proven to reduce acne while minimizing the appearance of scars.” – COSRX

Here is another review of a CosRX product that I have bought recently. A while ago, I interviewed CosRX’s Marketing Team Assistant Manager on the brand which you can find here.

I purchased this product from Jolse out of curiosity since there weren’t any reviews about the product yet. I never used a product that contained ‘Centella Asiatica’ extract before, so this will be my first time using it. The ingredient is widely known for its antibacterial and wound healing properties, which can make it popular for those suffering from acne or for those who desire an anti-aging product. Centella Asiatica is an effective natural ingredient in treating anti-aging by providing improvements to collagen support and providing a moisture barrier.

Directions:

Here are instructions on how to use the product from the WishTrend website:

“1) After cleansing, prep the skin with toner & serum, then apply an adequate amount of the Centella Blemish Cream to areas of dryness, blemishes, and/or acne-prone areas and spread out evenly to assist absorption.

2) Use as a cream for day & night and enjoy clean, clear skin!”

– It says to use it as a spot treatment, but sometimes I’d like to cover my whole face with this product right after using a moisturizer to help relieve my troubled skin. It doesn’t make my face greasy at all, which is a bonus for my oily skin.

Application:

23827D0E-69B6-4B98-B516-3EBF4242F50E_zpslktehuxb

The texture is very soft and creamy. When I rub the cream on my face, I find that it does not leave a greasy feeling on my skin. It mattifies it. I have very oily skin and this product isn’t heavy at all when used as a moisturizer. I would continue to use this as a moisturizer instead of a spot treatment if it was cheaper. The price is pretty high for the amount of product inside.

Ingredients:

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Zinc Oxide, Dimethicone, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Viola Tricolor Extract, Elaeis Guineensis(Palm) Oil, Elaeis Guineensis(Palm) Kernel Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Zinc PCA, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract

An analysis of ingredients can be found here.

Centella Asiatica Leaf Water: Approximately 51% of Centella water is used instead of purified water in this cream. The ingredient is extracted from the Centella Asiatica herb, which is traditionally used to treat damaged skin, which is proven to speed the process of healing damaged skin and to fade scars. Since the herb is antibacterial and contains wound-healing properties, it is perfect for those who are suffering from acne and/or acne scars.

Cetearyl Alcohol: Another fatty alcohol, Cetearyl Alcohol assists in keeping ingredients intact in the formulation.

Scent:

There is a ‘plant’ or ‘herb’ smell to the cream which is very faint in my opinion. The scent isn’t something I would be worried about breaking me out.

This product has done absolutely amazing things to my acne and cysts after just one day of using it. When I first got it, I patch tested it during my nighttime skincare routine on the upper half of my face where it contained a few cysts. When I woke up the next morning, my cysts completely deflated. I saw results in just one night. Amazing. I followed up with my morning routine. As I was cleansing my face, it felt extremely smooth and soft after a while of having bumpy skin with acne problems. Everything on the upper half of my face disappeared and cleared up. This product is more effective than all my prescription acne treatments which only dried out my skin. This Centella cream is able to moisturize my skin and clear it up as well. Pretty impressive.

The product claims to fade acne scars in addition to treating acne. It might be because I haven’t been using it enough, but I don’t see any visible differences in my acne scars.

The price for this product is quite expensive for its amount given, which is why I see CosRX suggests to use it strictly as a spot treatment. Despite the size, the product is very effective at doing what it claims: getting rid of acne. Even though the price is higher than what I would usually spend on a skincare product, this product is definitely an exception since it was able to give me a difference in my skin in just one day. I would definitely recommend this product to those who are looking for a solution to their acne and cysts!

1998

Pros Cons
– Effective of getting rid of acne and cysts – Expensive for its amount
– Hygienic container – Not as effective for reducing acne scars
– Got rid of pimples/cysts fast
– Reliable ingredients
– Very faint scent

Mediheal Mask Dress Code Violet Review

image2

When I sheet mask, I usually do it in my night routine which I then end with a sheet mask and skip the moisturizer. I skip the moisturizer because most of the sheet masks I’ve tried so far were so sticky and so… heavy that putting an extra layer on top of the shield that the sheet mask had left seemed… a little bit too much. There have been, however, a few masks that I liked a lot and deviated from that tendency because they were not only effective but also light (and non-sticky). This Mediheal Mask Dress Code Violet (I tried the Red one as well with the same effect) is one of those masks that I can follow with a rich moisturizer and my skin loves it. But let’s dive into the details.

Claims and Directions for use

The sheet mask ingredients make it a toning-regenerating sheet mask. It is supposed to brighten, regenerate and restore the skin’s pH level.

To use the mask:

  1. Cleanse the face and neck, apply a toner and place the sheet mask on the face
  2. Stretch the sheet towards the ears and upwards to adjust it to your face shape
  3. Put the remaining essence from the packaging onto the neck and pat it in delicately
  4. Leave the sheet mask on for 20 mins and after removing, pat in the remaining essence onto your face

Ingredients and Texture

Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium DTA, Panthenol, Trehalose, Betaine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Olea Europeana Fruit Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica Extract, Vaccinium Angustifolium Fruit Extract, Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Water, Hamamelis Virginiana Extract, Myrciaria Dubia Fruit Extract, Morinda Citrifolia Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Ficus Carica Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Ginko Biloba Nut Extract, Methylparaben, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Beta-Glucan, Allantoin, Triethanolamine, Polysorbate 80, Adenosine, Fragrance

In terms of the ingredients, the sheet mask seems to have its pros and cons.

Pros:

  • lots of botanical ingredients- extracts (e.g. Hamamelis Virginiana Extract), water (Lavandula Angustifolia Flower Water) and juice (Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice) that are nothing but beneficial and skin-friendly. According to CosDna ratings they’re not irritant, don’t cause acne and are super safe (top green satefy rating)
  • one of the first ingredients on the list are Sodium Hyaluronate and Hydrolyzed Collagen which keep the skin moisturized (Sodium Hyaluronate) and contribute to its elasticity (Hydrolyzed Collagen) making it plumper and more wrinkle-resistant
  • the mask also contains other beneficial ingredients such as Panthenol, Betaine, Beta-Glucan, Allantoin and Adenosine that help to fight/prevent the signs of aging

Cons:

  • it contains a few ingredients that aren’t considered too safe such as Tocopheryl Acetate (safety rating 3- yellow), Triethanolamine (safety rating 5- yellow) and Polysorbate 80 (safety rating 3 again). Triethanolamine can cause acne
  • contains a paraben (Methylparaben) and Fragrance

IMG_3021

Unfortunately, the packaging doesn’t say what the sheet mask is made of but my guess would be it’s a cotton sheet. It comes with printing in the shape of a carnival mask which is made of materials that don’t cause allergic reaction nor do they discolour the face. The essence in which the mask itself is soaked is transparent liquid a bit thicker than water but it’s easy to spill nevertheless (which I already did). Its fragrance isn’t overwhelming but very discreet and actually pleasant. I can’t really compare it to any fragrance as it doesn’t remind me of anything.

My thoughts

IMG_3022

I generally like Mediheal sheet masks and this Mask Dress Code Violet didn’t disappoint me. It’s got a ingredients list full of wonders which do wonders. I did notice a significant difference after using it and I already did it a few times. Every time the effects were the same- my face looked a lot healthier and noticeably brighter (not significantly brighter, however, as I’m already pale but it did made my pimple scars less noticeable). My skin was also much more elastic and softer. The essence from the sheet mask absorbed super quickly and didn’t leave a sticky or heavy feeling so I could top it up with my daily moisturizer. The end effect was a fully hydrated, healthier-looking skin that I couldn’t resist to touch. There’s the abundance of the essence as well which lasted me for two more days so even though I threw away the (cotton) sheet itself, I still could enjoy the mask’s benefits for two more days.

The downside of the mask are a few ingredients that are potentially unsafe for the skin (such as Triethanolamine or Polysorbate 80) and made me a bit concerned. But they were further down the ingredients list, so their amount in the essence must’ve been scant. Methylparaben and Fragrance also made me a bit suspicious of the mask but when I saw it didn’t contain Alcohol (yaay) or Mineral Oil (yaay) I decided to give it a try. And I don’t regret- I’ve already repurchased it.

Would I recommend it? Definitely. But make sure you use a moisturizer afterwards, especially if you have naturally dry skin like me. The mask is brightening/regenerating, but it’s not moisturizing enough. So a good moisturizer on top of that and you’re ready to shine!

Tony Moly Pureness 100 Snail Mask Sheet Review

Hey Beauty Lovers!

As you know, I’m slightly obsessed with sheet masks. I usually stick to higher end masks, but every now and then, I like to give more affordable options a try. I purchased this mask from the dollar section of the MaskSheets site with my own money.

This mask is marketed for sensitive skin, and it claims to repair damaged skin. I decided to test out these claims by using it the day after a chemical peel. My skin feels pretty sensitive and can get irritated easily after a peel, so I was really hoping that this mask wouldn’t burn my skin!

Ingredients:

water, glycerin, butylene glycol, alcohol, snail secretion filtrate (7000 ppm), betaine, phenoxyethanol, sodium hyaluronate, PEG-60 hydrogenated castor oil, allantoin, camellia sinensis leaf extract, hamamelis virginiaana (Witch Hazel) extract, morus alba bark extract, 1,2-hexanediol, propanediol, caprylyl glycol, illicium verum (anise) fruit extract, carbomer, triethanolamine, xanthan gum, disodium EDTA, ethylhexylglycerin, fragrance

Directions:

Apply the sheet mask after cleansing the skin. Leave the mask on for 20-30 minutes. After removing the mask, gently pat the remaining essence into your skin. For best results, use 2-3 times a week for 4 weeks.

How I Used This Mask:

After double cleansing, I applied rose water, essence, and serum. I then applied this sheet mask, and left it on for 30 minutes. I pat the remaining essence into my skin, and I followed up with moisturizer. I only have one of these masks, so I will not be testing it out over the course of a month.

What I Liked About This Mask:

  • Great fit for my face, and it stayed put the entire 30 minutes
  • Made with Snail Secretion Filtrate
  • Successfully calmed my irritated skin after a chemical peel
  • Didn’t make me break out
  • Unbleached cotton sheet- I’m not usually a fan of cotton sheets, but this one was actually very comfortable
  • Instant results
  • Affordable

Side Note:

Taking the mask out of the packaging, the first thing I noticed were black specks all over the sheet. Of course I freaked out, but after inspecting the packet, I noticed that it does have the following statement:

“This mask sheet is made by NON-bleached fabric which contains cottonseeds.”

I assumed that the black specks were cottonseeds, and I really hope they weren’t insects. Needless to say, I had anxiety the entire time that the mask was on my face. The mask did feel very soothing, and my skin looks surprisingly refreshed when I took it off.

Overall, I’m impressed with the quality of this TonyMoly mask!

I hope you enjoyed this sheet mask review! You can find all my skincare reviews by clicking the Skincare Reviews Series tab here.

Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask Review

As seen on my previous post, I finally have an update for all you pretty readers. Today I’ll be doing a review on the Elizavecca Milky Piggy Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask! I know this mask have been in the market for a while now and I’m only doing the review now but I do have a reason! LOL! My skin wasn’t in the greatest condition when this mask was released. Now that my skin is in a better condition, I’ll be trying it out!

Do take note that this product is NON HALAL!

Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask. With the hype going on around the beauty industry, let’s see if its really that great of a product.

Packaging

– It comes in a small grey container.

– 100 ml worth of product.

– I quite like the simple packaging and the piggy with the mask on. LOL!

– The expiry date and manufactured date can be found on the bottom of the container.

Inside

– It has a small spatula and a tight plastic lid over the mask.

Texture before applying.

– It’s a greyish slimy cream type mask.

– It’s like jello.

– It’s so fun to look at! XD

Beneficial ingredient:

As the product page stated, this mask contains Green Tea extract, Pomegranate extract, Charcoal Powder, Collagen, Glycerin.

Here are the full ingredients:

Purified Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, White Clay, Acrylate Copolymer, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Methyl Perfluorobutyl Ether, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Lauramide DEA, TEA-Cocoyl Glutamate, Green Tea Extracts, Glycerine, Dipropylene Glycol, Bentonite, Collagen, Charcoal Powder, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Flavouring Agents, Carbonated Water, Xanthan Gum, Disodium EDTA, Allantoin, Butylene Glycol, Lavender Extracts, Monarda Didyma Leaf Extracts, Peppermint Leaf Extracts, Freesia Leaf Extracts, Chamomile Flower Extracts, Rosemary Leaf Extracts

Charcoal Powder

It pulls out dirt and oil from pores.

Green Tea Extract

Soothes sensitive skin

Glycerin

Anti Ageing treatments

Used in acne treatments

Helps to retain skin moisture

What the product claims to do:

– The carbonated bubble unclogs pores and removes dead skin.

– The carbonated bubble helps to stimulate the skin to bring out a healthy glow.

– Removes black head.

How to use:

Step 1.

– Pick up the mask with the spatula provided.

Step 2.

– Apply it all over the face. Work fast. Trust me, if you work slowly the foam will start forming before you even finish covering your face.

– Spread it evenly.

– Wait and see the magic happen.

Within 20 seconds, small fine bubbles will start forming. It’s so interesting watching the bubbles form.

1 minute after application. As you can see the bubbles started forming, you can hear the bubbling fizzy happening around your skin.

You can feel the tingling sensation around your whole face as the bubble keeps growing.

Step 3.

After 5 – 10 minutes, run fingers under warm water and rub onto skin. Massage for a minute and wash your face as you would with a cleanser.

Texture after applying

It’s not what I expected. I initially thought that the bubbles would be fine and soft but it’s actually sticky. It turns into a soapy feel once massaged with warm water.

Scent

I’m not quite sure what the smell is but it smells like a sweet fruity smell. Not too bad.

Personal opinion

Once applied, you can feel a tingly sensation just like drinking sprite or coke. I have a very sensitive skin so I was hesitating whether to try on this product or not. However, thank god my skin did not react badly to the mask. I did not get any redness or itch on my face. It has the same feeling as dipping your face into carbonated water.

However! It is a hassle washing it off. It is sooo hard to wash the mask off. It’s slippery and foamy, I had to use cotton wipes to remove the clay off my skin. So I think using it before shower will be a better idea.

It is worth the hype?

To be honest, it’s worth playing around with this mask because it’s so much fun watching the mask grow 5x its original size but in terms of helping the skin, I don’t think so.

Does it do what it claims?

To be honest, I don’t think the mask does what it claims to do. Removes blackheads? Neh, I don’t think so. Gives a healthy glow? Hmmm, not really. Removes dead skin and dirt? Maybe? Not that sure, maybe I have to use it more often to see its effect.

PROS

– Smells great

– Decent amount of product for its price

– Fun to play with.

CONS

– Might not be suitable for dry skin or very sensitive skin.

– Not much effect on the skin.

– Overrated product to be honest.

Price

I bought it for RM40 during sales in Hermo.

Where to purchase?

Hermo – HERE

Amazon – HERE

YESSTYLE – HERE

Ratings

Price – 4/5

Pretty worth it during sales

Size – 4/5

I guess it’s a decent amount at 100ml

Hygiene – 2/5

I don’t really like things in a jar. I prefer it to be in a tube but I guess for this product it works better being in a tub.

Packaging – 3.5/5

I like the simple package but not the colour.

Claims – 2/5

Not really feeling it for this clay mask.

Will I repurchase this product?

I don’t think I will be repurchasing this product. It’s worth the hype though, watching the bubble form and the tingling sensation is pretty cool. However, coming down to the benefits, I don’t think it I like it that much but I do prefer the Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mask.

Originality Check

On the box, you will get a seal with a QR Code and numbers to check for originality. Gently scrape the silver part to reveal 16 numbers to check.

Go to this link -> http://elizavecca.com/shop/main/html.php?&htmid=service/original_certification_eng.htm and input the numbers.

*Beware of imitation Elizavecca products.

That’s it for my first impression/review for my first product from Elizavecca. The above review is not sponsored by anybody and it is all my personal opinion on the Elizavecca Carbonated Clay mask.

[FROM NATURE] Age Intense Treatment Essence Review

FROM NATURE Age Intense Treatment Essence Review

IMG_3312

I’ve wanted to write a review about this essence for a really long time now but I kept postponing it, god knows why. It’s such a wonderful essence that I can’t stop blaming myself for not writing anything about it for so long. But instead of saying anything more now, let’s jump straight to the review.

Claims

The packaging is mostly in Korean (apart from the front of it and the list of ingredients) so I can’t really tell what the producer’s claims as such are. The only thing the packing says is ”Wrinkle Repairing & Whitening for the first step of skin care” so my wild guess would be it’s supposed to help with wrinkles and brighten the skin.

What does the website I bought it from say? Well, I’d love to tell you but they sell it on and off and now apparently they stopped selling it. I’m sure it’ll return to the online store but at the moment, as I’m writing this review, I can’t access the product’s description from their site. Accessing descriptions from other sites isn’t that easy either as they either don’t have them (online stores) or they are in Korean (eBay). So let’s just embark on the short but fortunately in English product description from the packaging. The essence helps with wrinkles and brighten the skin.

Packaging

As in the picture at the beginning of the post, it comes in a reddish colour (don’t ask me what kind of shade of red it is- I’m really bad with colours) that seems to be checkered and with a slight shine. The glass bottle in which the actual essence it looks like this:

It’s a kind of a ”frosty” glass so it’s partly transparent and you can see how much of the essence I have left. I bought it in mid-November 2018 and I still have so much left despite using quite a lot of it in my PM skincare routine every day. So it’s really efficient. The packaging itself is also very good as it’s glass and glass is less reactive than plastic meaning it’s a better storage material for chemicals than plastic. And of course, we all want our ingredients to work to the best of their capabilities and the glass bottle ensures the chemicals in the essence don’t react with anything as long as it’s properly stored (no direct sunlight and the lid is airtight). The downside of that packaging, though, is that it’s heavy. And heavy things cost more to ship, especially from Asia. But everything has its own price, right?

Ingredients and Texture

Now comes my favourite bit. The ingredients list is just wonderful. And it does wonders. Here’s the ingredients list taken from CosDna that corresponds to the ingredients list on the packaging which you can see in the video above.

ingredients

Although the list is not long, almost all the ingredients are super safe and beneficial for the skin. Take for example Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate which is the first on the list meaning it’s the ingredient that is the most prevalent in the essence. So although I’m not proficient in Korean, I suppose the 95.7% refers to the amount of this ingredient in the essence. Moreover, surprisingly, water isn’t the next ingredient on the list. It’s Niacinamide which helps with evening the skin tone, lessening the appearance of wrinkles and skin dullness among others. Adenosine helps with skin smoothing and Sodium Hyaluronate with skin moisturization. And there are also a few plant-derived extracts that are skin friendly. The only ingredient that doesn’t excite me is Phenoxyethanol that has the yellow safety rating but it’s relatively low on the list and the benefits of the essence far exceed my worries about Phenoxyathanol’s potentially harmful effects. However, what it worth mentioning is that the FROM NATURE essence is paraben-, sulfate-, alcohol- and silicone-free.

When it comes to texture, the essence is really watery. It looks like water and behaves like water. The downside of it being watery is that sometimes I spill the precious essence on the floor because I can’t contain is on my palm. The bright side is that it absorbs really fast without leaving the skin very tight or too sticky. It makes my skin feel moisturized but still ready to take on more stuff such as a moisturizing cream.

My thoughts

So what are my thoughts? I LOVE THIS ESSENCE! One of the best skincare products I’ve tried in my entire life. It absorbs really fast but doesn’t make my skin sticky or so tight that I’m afraid if I smile it’ll leave permanent wrinkles around my mouth and nose. It’s a good mid-skincare product as it moisturizes but still leaves room for more products to be used. And the ingredients list….simply amazing. It’s got all the wonders-doing ingredients that help to fight wrinkles (or prevent them), even the skin and make it generally look better. And they actually work. After using the essence for about two weeks I noticed that my skin became much much softer and plumper. The skin tone is super even and if I have a really bad pimple that leaves the scar, the scar’s colour fades away really quickly. I have very few wrinkles and they aren’t that noticeable so I didn’t see much of improvement there but I noticed my skin became more elastic and although I’m going through a lot of stress (I’m telling you, because of that I’m aging 5 times faster than other people) I haven’t noticed any bad changes in it since I started using this product. People even started telling me I look much younger than I actually am. T^T  I know this product works for me and I’m not surprised why- it’s all due to the ingredients that it contains.

To put it simply- the FROM NATURE Age Intense Treatment Essence is…precious.

And worth purchasing! I already bought another bottle. Although because the first one has lasted me for 4 months already and I still have a lot of it left, I suppose I won’t have to buy another essence for at least a year from now.

Have you tried this product? If so, let me know in the comments if it worked for you!

Purito Centella Green Level Buffet Serum Review

Purito Kbeauty Skincare Review Centella Green Level Buffet Serum

This product was provided to me by Purito for my honest review. Affiliate links are not used in this post.

I was recently approached by a Korean skincare brand called Purito to test out some of their products and, with the experience that I had with them, I was more than happy to. They showed me their English website which talked about their natural and ‘honest’ approach to skincare, focusing on safe and pure ingredients.

I’ll go into that a little further down but basically they asked me to choose a few products and to test them out for at least 2 weeks (and I liked that they seem genuine in wanting to demonstrate the effectiveness of their products). I’ll be starting off with their Centella Green Level Buffet Serum – which is one of their hero products. This is sort of an ‘all in one’ product, meaning that it has a buffet of essential ingredients to help target multiple skin needs at once. This seems really great as a daily serum and you can definitely boost it with a second serum depending on the seasons.

I think that Purito products would be well suited for people with sensitive skin or those who just prefer to use natural products in their routine. So, if that’s you (or if you’ll read what I write regardless), let’s get on with the review!

Purito Kbeauty Skincare Review Centella Green Level Buffet Serum

Brand Description

As I mentioned earlier, Purito is a brand that aims to focus on high quality, safe and natural ingredients. They use EWG green level ingredients (EWG stands for The Environmental Working Group and you can read about them here, as well as their rating system) meaning that their products are also safe for varying skin types.

They also have a number of brand promises, which I thought were really great and would be particularly interesting for people who are especially environmentally aware and who have sensitive skin. The following is taken from their website. There might be some awkward grammar due to the translation and language barrier, but it’s all pretty clear and pretty good:

  • Based on the data of EWG skin deep, we will continuously give a challenge although it may be difficult to produce it.
  • We will never put bad ingredients such as 20 types of ingredients that require caution and 26 types of allergic ingredients.
  • Our focus will continue to be on ingredients rather than glamorous containers.
  • We will keep the environment in mind, removing unnecessary packaging and eco-friendly material.
  • We will never conduct tests on animals.
  • We will only make mild, non-allergic products to strengthen natural resilience of skin.
  • Until the day comes when everyone uses Purito, we will keep our price at more reasonable levels to get closer to you.

Basically, the brand swears by using only skin safe products, focusing on ingredients rather than elaborate packaging, being environmentally friendly, not testing on animals and also being affordable to the average consumer.

Packaging

Although the brand states that they don’t put their focus on glamorous packaging, I personally think that it’s important to also keep it in mind – after all, great packaging always makes me more interested in continuing to use a product, and good quality is also a necessity. That being said, even though Purito’s approach is very simple and basic, the quality and aesthetic is still there – they just don’t have any brand gimmick.

The serum comes in a brown cardboard box – the actual design of it really suits the brand image, and this type of paper is also better for the environment (it’s uncoated, so there is no unneeded plastic in it). The bottle of this Centella Green Level Buffet Serum is made of a light but sturdy plastic, with a dark green colour. The pump is black and it’s smooth so it’s easy to control how much you want to dispense.

With 60mL in a bottle, I’ve been using it twice a day over two weeks now and I’m maybe 1/8 in… so I think that this would last me around 4 months if I continue in the same fashion. It’s a good amount of product, and the price is good too, selling at USD$17.30

Product claims

This product claims to have four main skin benefits:

  • Strengthening the skin barrier
  • Lightening
  • Anti-wrinkle
  • Moisturising

According to the website:

  • With collagen, ceramide, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide compounds in it, Buffet Serum will brighten and moisturise your skin
  • The Cica serum contains 49% of Centella Asiatica Extract and Centella Asiatica powder from Asiaticoside, Madecassic Acid and Asiatic Acid
  • With Adenosine and four peptides, the serum will help alleviate deep wrinkles

This product is recommended for people who want to target multiple skin problems and people with sensitive skin, especially those who are concerned with blemishes and pigmentation. The serum has a light texture and is meant to absorb quickly. However, since there is no alcohol in the formula, it does not evaporate and retains moisture.

According to your skin needs, they also have a recommended skincare routine on the product page. For myself, I worked this product into my normal skincare routine (so that I could observe the changes with only this additional product) but took out my whitening serum as I didn’t want it to overlap.

Personal Results

So following the recommendation from Purito, I used this serum for a total of two weeks and a kept a close eye on my observations during that time.

My immediate thought is that the serum has a very light, almost liquidified gel sort of formula. It feels a bit slippery and spreads/pats easily on the skin without any need for rubbing to help it absorb. There is a fresh scent but it’s very light and not noticeable enough to bother anyone. I typically use 2-3 pumps at night, and then 1-2 pumps in the morning (when I have to put make up on over it). Once applied, it leaves no sticky residue or heaviness. Other products are easy to then layer on top of it and I find that it also wears well under make up.

Since the formula is a little bit cooling when you apply it, it’s also a good addition to my morning routine.

After using it for two weeks, I noticed that my skin was feeling very well hydrated and smoother than usual. I also had a minor break out on my chin when I first started to use this, and it cleared up completely within the week (and it was one of those awkward ones that I had issues with for a while). This is still some scarring, but I’m hoping that longer term use will fade that more. That being said, I’m unable to comment on the anti-wrinkle properties of this product and I didn’t see much brightening, so I will likely add in the Vitamin C serum after this weekend to boost that property more.

I don’t feel that this serum is a sort of miracle product that will perform miraculous feats that you see advertised pretty often, but instead it is a gentle formula that is effective over time. This is definitely very suitable for sensitive or problem skin and I think that this sort of slow, nourishing approach will be very beneficial for my skincare in the long term.

Purito Kbeauty Skincare Review Centella Green Level Buffet Serum

Overall, I really like Purito’s brand philosophy and I’m happy that they gave me the chance to try out their range! I’m going to continue to use this Buffet Serum in my skincare routine, as well as adding in their Pure Vitamin C Serum to see if it will help fade this acne scarring on my chin as well as some of my sun spots. I am currently also using their exfoliation pads, which I will also continue to do, and I intend on writing a thorough review for that at the end of my testing period.

So, until then, here’s my verdict!

SO WHAT IS IT?

A light, buffet serum that targets multiple skin concerns (Skin barrier, whitening, anti-wrinkle and hydration).

THE GOOD

  • Safe and natural ingredients
  • Environmentally friendly paper box packaging (for those who look for this)
  • No animal testing
  • Very hydrating and maintains that moisture through the day
  • Obvious improvements to skin breakouts
  • Fresh scent that isn’t overwhelming
  • Absorbs quickly and easy to layer other products
  • Works well under make up
  • Affordable

THE BAD

  • Not immediate results – product needs to be used over time
  • Brightening/Whitening benefits aren’t visible
  • Average, simple packaging (which some people may prefer and others may not)

RATINGS

  • PACKAGING | 3/5
  • PRICE POINT |4/5
  • HYDRATION | 5/5
  • BRIGHTENING/WHITENING | 1/5
  • ANTI-ACNE | 4/5
  • ABSORPTION | 5/5

OVERALL RATING? 7.3/10

WOULD I RECOMMEND?

This is a product that would definitely benefit someone is a sensitive skin type. Personally, my skin isn’t very sensitive so I’m used to using stronger and more potent products and ingredients (some of which probably aren’t suitable for all skintypes). For that reason, Purito is a brand that I would recommend people to check out themselves and to see if it suits their needs.

Etude House Fix and Fix Primer – Mint Review

Primer is something I use pretty much every day and I’m usually one for a brightening one to help my rather dull skin look a bit healthier. That combined with a nice bright blush seems to give me a healthy complexion that I’m frequently complimented on. Thanks to Etude House, I was able to try a colour correcting primer for the first time in January in cushion form and I was quite happy with the results so I was more than excited to try a different form of the product. When asked which colour corrector I would like I chose Mint because I suffer from redness in my face and redness that increases as the day goes by. Etude House’s Fix and Fix Primer shares its shades with the cushion (aside from the strobing one is changed up for one that seemingly acts similarly to the Benefit Porefessional). But this time it comes in a tube form and a liquid-cream formula.

The packaging of this product is very sleek and the fact that it’s mint green as well bodes really well with me (I’m gonna say this a million times but it’s my favourite colour!). I love minimalist pastel packaging and this is nice and compact to take about in my bag with me.

As this is a tube, the product is squeezed out as expected and when it comes out you will notice the mint green is a very pale mint green and from what I have been able to see it is very similar if not the same shade as the cushion, so I was expecting the same result from it other than the application may finish differently due to not using a cushion to apply this time.

A lot of people when talking about the colour correcting primer from Etude House have mentioned a white cast on their skin as a finish. While this is true, and something I mentioned before, I actually did a bit more research on Korean blogs and articles into it to see why it does. Korea’s beauty trend has always tended to feature pale, flawless skin, but more recently, there’s been some acknowledgment that it can be difficult to achieve for some people with issues such as redness, dark spots or dullness of the skin and those with more tanned skin. Whitening skincare and procedures have been used regularly for a while, but these products are for the initial instances of skin troubles rather than skintone*, so the usage of what they call “tone up” make up (such as this primer) is becoming more popular to meet with this trend. So this pale white skin is obtained using a primer that creates a white cast and then is covered with a BB cream or foundation, then accentuated with a combination of a bright or soft lip colour. This is of course for those that want to follow this trend that a lot of celebrities are showcasing and has been quite a popularised look in Korea.

Because of this, I don’t see a lot of issue with the white cast for myself because I myself am already pale so this helps accentuate that. My only real issue is that because it is a green shade, it takes the warmth out of my skin which then comes back when I add my BB/Foundation on top, so this definitely isn’t something to wear by itself!

I’ll showcase here the difference in my skintone. I’m actually quite happy with the condition of my skin at the moment asides from my scars, so there aren’t a lot of visible issues but you can see some redness to the cheeks and to the nose area, these tend to be the parts that I suffer from redness the worst especially when the weather is either really hot or cold. Applying the primer does take a lot of the redness away but you can see quite clearly that my skin loses it’s warm yellow tone to it (and you can see that tone remaining on my neck where it wasn’t applied).

I have found using this, that my skin doesn’t go as red as it normally would throughout the day. This is the same result that I found previously with the cushion. I think I prefer this tube style over the cushion as I find it’s simply easier to apply with my fingers and I also know how much product I have remaining (as cushions do absorb some amount of the product that’s put inside). Would I buy this again? Possibly, I want to try the colour correcting sticks from Etude House as well at some point and see how the two in combination work. I’m actually going to take this primer with me when I go on holiday to Spain in two weeks, so this will be going on top of sunscreen to protect my skin and hopefully reduce any redness in my face with the heat!

What are your views on colour correcting products? Have you tried any of Etude House’s? Which shade do you think would be necessary for you?

*This is taken from my research on the topic and I’m hoping I haven’t worded my sentences in regards to skintone in a way that may upset anyone, as I feel I’m not in a position to go too into detail in regards to any tone other than my own. If I have worded things poorly, please let me know.
