[Missha] Aqua Peptide Custom Skin Care Toner Review

IMG_4551

My lovely beauties! After using it for 5 months, I thought that it’s high time I introduced you to my most recent toner- Missha Aqua Peptide Custom Skin Care Toner, found on RoseRoseShop during one of my sale fevers. Here we go then!

About the product

IMG_4557

So. The packaging doesn’t say much about the toner, at least not in English. T^T Nor does the website where I got it from (RoseRoseShop). But what it does say, reads as the following:

This refreshing toner helps balance and prepare the skin for skincare steps that follow. Dermatologically tested.

And that’s it. That’s all that is in English on the packaging and the website. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There’s not much in terms of claims and therefore there’s also not much to expect from the toner. Just that it is supposed to balance the skin and prepare it for the skincare steps that follow. Let’s jump to the product itself then and let’s have a closer look at its ingredients list and texture.

Ingredients and Texture

IMG_4556

Ingredients: Opuntia Ficus Indica Stem Extract, Propanediol, Centella Asiatica Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Algae Extract, Eclipta Prostrata Leaf Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Tremella Fuciformis (Mushroom) Extract, Agave Tequilana Leaf Extract, Harpagophytum Procumbens Root Extract, Lilium Candidum Flower Water, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate, Sodium Citrate, Citric Acid, Water, Glycerin, Schizosaccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, Fructooligosaccharides, Beta-Glucan, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Butylene Glycol, Tetradecyl Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate, Maltodextrin, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer,  Hyaluronic Acid, Magnesium Chloride, Sorbitan Laurate, Nonapeptide-1, Acetyl Dipeptide-1 Cetyl Ester, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Copper Tripeptide-1, Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Hexapeptide-9, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, Fragrance, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol

Before I bought this Missha toner, I made sure I had a proper look at the ingredients list to avoid disappointment. In the past I ditched the toner step in my routine as toners used to dry my already dry skin so much that I didn’t see any point in continuing with a step that only deteriorates the condition of my skin. However, one day I was browsing sale items on RoseRoseShop and I came across Missha Aqua Peptide Custom Skin Care Toner and because it was quite cheap, I had a closer look at it. When I saw how many skin-beneficial ingredients it has, I knew I had to buy it. And so I did.

It’s got 11 botanical extracts, Centella Asiatica Extract being among them (a very potent antioxidant source that promotes skin healing, including mitigating some visible effects of sun damage), 5 types of Hyaluronic Acid which is a great humectant and a wonderful hydrating ingredient (and because there are 5 types of it, there’s a higher likelihood of its thorough penetration to the skin and therefore it working wonders) and loooooads of peptides (10 of them! Crazy!). And, ladies and gentleman, this is just a toner. JUST a toner, a toner that is to balance the skin and prepare it for more concentrated doses of skin-enhancing ingredients contained in serums, ampoules, lotions, etc. Apart from botanical extracts, Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides, there are also other star ingredients such as Schizosaccharomyces Ferment Filtrate (brings suppleness and softness to the skin), Beta-Glucan (soothes the skin) and Aminobutyroylvalylaminobutyric Urea Trifluoroacetate (God, the name is a little tongue twister but it’s been shown to boost the skin’s production of HA that decreases with age, so it’s a no joke).

Although back then, when I was buying this Missha toner, I wrongly thought that the first ingredients on the list are in the highest concentration, I still think that it is a product with an impressive ingredients list. It’s quite long for a toner and a huge majority of the ingredients is super safer for the skin and extremely beneficial- not only because it’s got loads of good ingredients but, as mentioned, there are also a few types of certain ingredients (Hyaluronic Acid and Peptides) making your skin covered.  👍

According to CosDna, all ingredients are safe (with the exception of Fragrance) and only two ingredients might potentially cause any irritation/acne (Butylene Glycol Sorbitan Laurate) but they both have a very low irritation/acne rating (just 1) and although I have a sensitive skin, the toner has never broken me out, despite using it for 5 months. Also, on a side note, for people prone to fungal acne, Polyglyceryl-10 Laurate might trigger it, according to Skincarisma, so just a word of caution.

IMG_4554

In terms of texture, the Missha toner is just like water in consistency and absorbs SUPER fast. Like, very VERY fast. I always have to apply it on my face quickly before it absorbs into my hand’s skin (I don’t use cotton pads as they irritate my skin- I prefer applying it with my bare hands). Upon application, it doesn’t leave any stickiness but makes the skin look plumper and more bouncy. However, it’s not moisturizing enough so it’s important to follow up with other skincare steps to ensure proper moisturization as the toner only hydrates.

My thoughts

IMG_4553

I need to admit that- after years of disliking and not using toners, I got to like this one quite a lot. It’s got an amazing ingredients list which is very clean and safe. As already mentioned, it has never broken me out nor caused any other skin issues (which my sensitive skin is very grateful for). It’s got great hydrating properties as it’s always left my skin bouncy and plump straight after application and the results have always been visible the next morning as well. It hasn’t made my skin feel sticky or heavy so I can always proceed with my skincare routine without any concerns and, because it absorbs so fast, I’ve never had to wait God knows how long before applying my FROM NATURE Age Intense Treatment Essence. It also certainly balances the skin and prepares it for the following skincare steps as I noticed it reduces significantly any tightness or/and redness I get after cleansing my face.

Missha Aqua Peptide Custom Skin Care Toner is certainly a toner worth checking out. It’s very hydrating in a non-sticky way (as opposed to many toners that contain alcohol and leave the skin feeling very dry), it does what it’s supposed to do (balances and prepares the skin for the next skincare steps), it’s beneficial for the skin (with all those skin enhancing ingredients discussed above) and it’s largely safe for the skin.

Would I repurchase? Certainly. As for now, though, I won’t- I bought it in February this year and I still have half of a bottle left despite using it very generously every day. :O So one more pro- if you want a toner that lasts ages, this one will be your friend for a looong time.

SanDaWha Liposome Skin Softener Review

38184086_639091276475585_4383610095229992960_n

Been wanting to review this one forever but life seems to keep getting in the way. 😭

Legit got sent home from work this week bc I got sick after working the weekend so had to fly twice in one day. 🙄

ANYWAY…picked up this #SanDaWhaLiposome Skin Softener from @beautytapofficial in mid-May and I’m already 2/3 of the way through the bottle…all you skincare junkies out there know that’s the highest compliment and means I really love it. 😂

Unlike western toners which are often on the more astringent side, this #kbeauty skin softener is milky and hydrating and soothing and nutrient-rich and light all at the same time. 😍

Very lightly and pleasantly scented, a bit floral…a bit citrus-y…fades pretty quickly, which is just the way I like it. 😊

My skin always feels immediately softer and nourished (if it’s possible for your skin to FEEL nourished haha)…it’s full of herbal extracts including camellia flower, a staple in Asian skincare w antioxidant and moisturizing properties. 💕

Skin feels a little sticky/tacky immediately after applying but this doesn’t bother me since toning is the first step in my routine so any tackiness gets quickly covered up with the following layers. 🙃

I’ve been using this literally every day and can’t keep my hands off of it…basically about to purchase a refill before I’m done even though I have other toners I haven’t touched yet 🤷‍♀️ honestly, it’s #HolyGrailstatus for me and when I saw it on BeautyTap’s Top KBeauty Toners list I couldn’t help but agree. 😁

Have you tried this at all? What are your favorite toners? 👇

Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner Review

IMG-0903

So, recently I’ve been binge buying k-beauty products and I’m really ashamed of it (but it means much more reviews here, so I suppose it’s a good thing in the end, right?). This Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner is one of my newest purchases and I just can’t believe it’s almost gone. And when I noticed my journey with this bottle is coming to an end, I knew I had to post a review of it because it truly deserves it. So here it goes.

Where I bought it

RoseRoseShop

How much I paid

$3.58

Packaging

The toner came in a transparent plastic bottle (see the photo above). No additional packaging was provided so I was a bit surprised as I thought it was opened and then sent to me. But when I looked at the bottle closer I noticed the ingredients list, a short description of the product (in English) and instructions how to use it (in Korean so I’m not going touch on this aspect of the product here). It made me convinced the packaging was authentic as most of the products that come in a bottle + an additional cardboard packaging have all this information on the outmost packaging (the cardboard one) so the toner’s bottle had to be the outmost packaging in this case. Anyway, I quite liked the bottle itself as it was plastic (so quite resistant to any damage resulting from dropping it on the floor) and it was really easy to get the contents out – I just had to slightly tilt it to get it onto a cotton pad.

Texture and Scent

IMG-0906IMG-0908

I loved it. Really. Loved. It. In terms of texture and scent alike. The texture was really watery. It almost seemed like scented water. But the scent itself was really delicate. When I smelled it from the close, I could notice it, but when I applied on my skin I could hardly smell anything. That’s a very good thing for me. Not only it’s almost scent-free but it also absorbs very fast and doesn’t leave any tacky feeling. Whenever I applied it, I could put a layer of another product straight away and it didn’t feel like I was overwhelming my skin.

Ingredients

Aloe Vera Leaf Water (9,700ppm), Glycerin, 1,2- Hexanediol, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Beta-Glucan, Snail Secretion Filtrate, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Psidium Guajava Fruit Extract, Allantoin, Zanthoxylum Piperitum Fruit Extract, Pulsatilla Koreana Extract, Usnea Barbata Extract, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Polysorbate 80, Althaea Rosea Flower Extract, Aloe Vera Leaf Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Disodium EDTA, Fragrance, Nonoxynol-12

Because the ingredients list was in Korean, I translated it with the help of Google Translate and decided to paste it here as a text. As you can see, it’s a really impressive ingredients list as for a toner. According to the rating on CosDna almost all of the ingredients are listed as green meaning they’re safe for the skin. There are only a couple that are listed as yellow (Polysorbate 80 and Nonoxynol-12) which means they may be somewhat harmful to the health/skin if used long-term. However, Polysorbate 80 has the rating 3 (the lower number the better and the lowest rating is 1 so it’s just one number away from the green rating as green starts at 2) and Nonoxynol-12 is the last ingredient on the list which means that its concentration in the product is very low and hence makes it less harmful if at all.

Most of the ingredients in the toner are also very beneficial for the skin. There are lots of plant extracts, Beta-Glucan, Snail Secretion Filtrate and of course Aloe Vera in three different versions- as Aloe Vera Leaf Water, Juice and Extract. Such a feast for the skin this toner is!

Performance and my thoughts

As I already mentioned above, I love this Secret Key toner. Why? There are two aspects of it that made me fall in love with it. The first one is a more technical one-it absorbs fast, leaves no tacky feeling and the packing makes it easy to get the toner out in the first place. The second relates to the effects it had on my skin. It moisturized it very well and made all the products following it absorb quicker as my skin was already well prepped. It also calmed my skin down- because I went through quite a big emotional upheaval before I started using the toner my skin was prone to break outs (and actually had a pretty nasty one) and was really rough and dull. But after about a week of using it my skin became more even, was properly moisturized and looked more healthy. The break out also disappeared and now there’s no sign it ever happened.

All in all, all I can say is why I got to love this Secret Key Aloe Soothing Moist Toner and not much I can say what I disliked about it. Maybe just that the ingredients list and the instructions were in Korean but that’s got nothing to do with the contents but with the packaging.

That’s all from me. I hope you liked the review.

Have you tried this toner before? If yes, share your thoughts in the comments!

~REVIEW~ Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner

** All my reviews are based on personal experience and opinions. If you enjoy these products please do not take any critics negatively since all of our skin is different and reacts differently to products **

Alrighty lovelies today I’m reviewing the toner that I’ve been using day and night for almost two months. My child (1 1/2) kept me up all night and I can’t think of anything witty to start this review so let’s just jump right in.

Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner

I purchased my product through Sokoglam.com but it is available for purchase on a variety of sites including yesstyle, wishtrend, and amazon. This product is now also available in an unscented version but I currently own the original.

🍃Price 🍃

$18-$22USD

🍃Targeted for 🍃

-Normal skin

-Dry skin

-Combination skin

-Sensitive skin

🍃Claims 🍃

Prep your skin with this refreshing toner that removes excess dirt and sebum while restoring pH balance. Amino acids reduce irritation and provide deep hydration.

This product has a pH level of 5.

🍃Size 🍃

6.08 oz / 180 ml

🍃Consistency 🍃

This toner is more viscous than most toners I have tried. I would not say it’s super thick but definitely not a thin toner. I would suspect that would be because of its moisturizing properties. Due to that I wouldn’t say it’s the best for layering but it definitely could be done if you would like. On days that I’m super dry I will add a second layer of this toner.

🍃How to use 🍃

After cleansing I pour a fair amount into the palms of my hands and put into my skin.

🍃 Ingredients 🍃

Image-1

I would like to point out for those who are unaware (this product is a cult favorite so I’m sure most people know by now) but the original version contains essentials oils that could cause skin irritation. For those who may fear a bad reaction due to the essential oils I would recommend the unscented version.

My thoughts:

🍃 Scent 🍃

So this version definitely has a scent due to the essential oils buts it isn’t overwhelming by any means. Even if you have a sensitive nose I do not think this product would cause you any issues.

🍃 Packaging 🍃

There isn’t too much to say about the packaging on this product. I like the dark colored bottle and it looks nice on my counter. It’s plastic but isn’t a plastic that is super light or cheap feeling. It does have a nice weight to it which makes it feel higher quality. It also has a regular screw cap with a stopper inside in order to prevent over pouring.

🍃 Experience 🍃

So I’m sure everyone has heard of this product because it seems to be a huge cult favorite and honestly for good reason. If you are someone who suffers from dry skin or if you find other toners to be too harsh I really recommend giving this one a try. It feels like a nice drink of water for my skin and definitely lives up to its title when it claims to give you supple skin. I feel like this is a great option to add in both a day or night routine. If you have very oily skin though I feel like this may be too much hydration for you and I would recommend maybe getting a sample first (I believe wishtrend has miniature versions).

🍃 Overall rating: 5/5 🍃

I really can’t find any negatives for me with this product. I really enjoy it and I feel that for my dry skin it has really been a lifesaver.

Would I repurchase??

I’m currently looking into purchasing other toners but I feel like this product may find a permanent home in my skincare cabinet. But we will see 😋.

I hope you guys found my review helpful! Til next time loves 😋 .

COSRX Two in One Poreless Power Liquid Review

bea cosrx

So I’ve been using Cosrx Two in One Poreless Power Liquid for a month already and I definitely think it deserves a #Bskinreview update. 💖 I switched to this as my daily toner (in place of Human Nature Acne Defense toner) so that I could really test its effectiveness.

A quick recap of its claims:

💦 clears out congested pores

💦 tightens enlarged pores

💦 fights acne & kills bacteria (through Willow Bark Extract)

💦 helps cool down temperature

💦 controls excessive oil production

💦 safe to use with other AHA or BHA containing products

Key ingredients:

🌱 Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract 88%

🌱 BHA (Betaine Salicylate) 0.1%

My #Bskinreview thoughts after a month of usage:

✨ made my pores less visible

✨ reduced my blackheads (especially on my nose)

✨ definitely toned down my sebum production

✨ gave my skin a brighter complexion

✨ I have lesser breakouts now (yay!)

I’m really impressed with everything it has done to my skin. I never actually thought a product could make pores smaller/less visible, but this thing is a game changer! Well, I have to say, this is now officially my HG toner. ❤

Son&Park Beauty Water Review

image_6483441.JPG

💧SON&PARK Beauty Water💧
.
”It is the smart cleansing liquid based on a natural plant therapy that exfoliates and moisturises the skin at once. Beauty Water can be used daily, morning and evening. It is recommended as the first step for the perfect makeup. It cleans any old dead skin cells to make skin feel sleek and soft. It contains an array of skin-loving ingredients to boost skin’s moisture immediately. Beauty Water is also an ideal way to refresh skin anytime you want, mid-day or when washing with a cleanser isn’t an option. You will instantly feel how young and healthy your skin is after this Beauty water.” 🌚
.
So I’ve been using it religiously day and night everyday, and yessss it does what it claims. It is definitely not only a toner. It also exfoliates, moisturizes and gives instant hydration to my skin. I loveeee using it especially after I used a wash-off mask as it completely removes the residues that may clog your pores.💆
.
Overall, this miracle water gives a smooth, hydrated and glowy skin. Even though it is not as moisturizing, it helps controls my oil and sebum production. It might cost a lot, but a little goesss a veeryyyy long wayyyyy. 🙆
.
Tips: I applied this toner using a cotton pad as it also acts as a physical toner, and I can say it is a really good and gentle exfoliator. Also, I decant a small volume of this toner into a tiny spray bottle as my to-go mist. Instant refreshness! 💧

COSRX Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol Review

One K-beauty brand that I’m super happy I discovered from watching beauty influencers’ (more specifically, Joan Kim!) Youtube videos is COSRX. This skincare brand has never disappointed, and I like how everything is so fuss-free and straightforward – kind of like a drastic change from the usual amazing packaging of K-beauty products, but not a bad change to have once in a while.

Product Description

The Natural BHA Skin Returning A-Sol is a toner that works hard to hydrate and prep your skin for the next steps in your skin care routine and maintains your pores as a gentle chemical exfoliator.

This formula contains 69.8% Black Bee Propolis to soothe, repair and hydrate skin while inhibiting bacterial growth—perfect for breakouts and acne-prone skin. Natural AHAs and BHAs also aid in controlling excess sebum, clearing impurities and dead skin cells, and helping your skin cells renew so your skin becomes clearer and brighter while maintaining natural moisture-retention.

This is a great toner for sensitive, combination, or oily skin, and especially those dealing with breakouts and acne.

This product has a pH level of 4

Fragrance-free.

Official Retail Price in Singapore: SGD 26.90

Ingredient List

Propolis Extract, Alcohol, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Lactate, Lactic Acid, water, Glycolic Acid, Betaine Salicylate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Panthenol, Allantoin, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethyl Hexanediol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil

I know this ingredient list sounds quite scary, especially when you see alcohol ranked 2nd(!) I had a lot of doubts when I was looking at this product, but the product description seemed to fit what I was looking for. I was hoping to buy a toner that could hydrate my skin while keeping my acne at bay, and this toner seemed to do just the thing, so I took a leap of faith and went ahead with this purchase.

Packaging: I don’t really like my skincare products to look too frivolous, although I do love pretty makeup packaging. Having something clean and sophisticated gives the impression that it’s more scientifically-formulated, if you understand what I mean haha. I’ve brought this along on my travels and had no problems with leakages whatsoever. It’s not too bulky too, so it can definitely fit snugly into your luggage.

Texture: Like most other toners, it feels just like water, so it gets absorbed by the skin very easily. I’m not too big a fan of the smell, though.

Effectiveness: I have pretty mixed thoughts about this, but mostly positive.

So when I first started using this product, I was going through a lot of stress, bad eating, terrible sleeping habits (all thanks to school) and I felt like my skin might die if I didn’t use a toner that could at least promise to keep my skin looking like it won’t die any time soon. I’m not exaggerating when I say this toner SAVED my skin during those dreary, exhausting weeks. My internal organs might have been dying, but my skin was clearly surviving. It remained relatively clear for weeks with the occasional zits, but nothing drastic!  It was the best condition that I had seen my skin in for a long time, and I really was quite amazed.

However, after I used it for a period of time, it seemed a little like it wasn’t so effective anymore. My lifestyle habits have definitely been improving since then, so I don’t know why I still sprout acne patches so often these days.

Final Verdict

I hate having mixed feelings about a product that clearly worked for me, and which I would definitely want to recommend 😦

I might give this another shot in future with a new bottle (I just finished mine!) to see if I can still make this work for me, because this is honestly the best toner I’ve used in a long time. I do think this will work great for people with sensitive and acne-prone skin – I can truly vouch for this. I’m just slightly puzzled by the reduced efficacy towards the end of the bottle. Maybe something else in my makeup routine is messing my skin up rather than the toner, but it still shows that this toner is not 100% effective at preventing acne. Oh well.
